A Community Challenge – Golf Day October 2025

The Autumn Community Challenge Trophy

And so it became.

On Friday, 17th October 2025, at the Oakland Park Golf Club (https://www.oaklandparkgolf.co.uk/) in Chalfont St. Giles, not far from the Masonic Centre in Beaconsfield, the Autumn Community Challenge Trophy first teed off.

42 players, in 11 teams from far and wide, made the journey to this momentous occasion, coming together to help raise funds in support of the Adult Carers Christmas Lunch to be held in December 2025 in conjunction with Carers Bucks (https://carersbucks.org/).

All reports were that each and every player had a super time. The course was very well presented and gave less experienced players and those with lower handicaps a good challenge. This course is to be underestimated at your peril.

There were several opportunities to contribute or donate – anything from buying a “mulligan”, a fine for landing in “the Master’s bunker” and the traditional old campaigner, the raffle.

There were some great prizes on offer – a magnum of champagne each for the player with the longest drive and the nearest the pin.

The team winners were presented each with a bottle of champagne, and most importantly, the Autumn Community Challenge Trophy.

The day was supported by teams locally from the White Hart in Chalfont St. Giles, The Taps in Beaconsfield (some also players at The Lambourne Golf Club),  Hertfordshire Masonic Golf Society, Buckinghamshire Masonic Golf Society and many close friends. It really was a very special day indeed, to be supported by so many kind people.

Special mention goes out to Steve and Rachel at the Golf Club for their great attention on the day. They are a real credit to the Club, which provided us with a great day. This venue is very well recommended and we hope you will consider it when you need to run an important event. They are extremely accommodating and really do make life very easy for organisers.

This event made a significant and substantial contribution to the cause for which I am truly grateful.
